Mary Clara Capel
Mary Clara Capel is one-fourth of the 3rd generation managing Capel, Incorporated today...a 92 year old NC rug company. Home decorating is in her blood. In April 2008 Mary Clara took this passion a step further by purchasing Bloom, a home and garden gift shop in Southern Village. She loves helping customers choose just the right accent pieces or the perfect gift for a friend. Mary Clara visits the home and garden shows in Atlanta and New York annually. But, what she loves even more is to find those out-of-the-way artists tucked in the nooks and crannies of our state and beyond to find one-of-a-kind pieces to sell in her store. Mary Clara is ever-mindful of budget-conscious home decorators. She finds a wide range of things that are unique, fun and affordable.
“Whether it’s a child with $5 to spend, or a grandmother with $100, I hope they have fun shopping Bloom to find just the right gift. We want customers to feel right at home.” |

Elizabeth Fairey
Elizabeth Fairey joined Bloom as manager in July 2008. Elizabeth has a BA in Fine Art from Columbus College of Art and Design and has always worked in creative fields. Coming to Bloom was simply a natural progression. Elizabeth loves helping customers and her positive attitude is contagious. But, she has surprised herself with how much she enjoys the nuts and bolts of managing a small business. In her spare time Elizabeth loves to paint using oils and collage techniques. Elizabeth is married and lives in Durham.
"I love working at Bloom...the customers, the staff, Mary Clara...the whole creative process has been a great experience."

Kim Jones
Kim Jones didn't travel far when she came to work at Bloom in January 2009. She had been right next door as Pringle Craft Gallery's manager for 5 years. When the Pringles decided to retire, Mary Clara knew she had to get Kim to move on over to Bloom as co-manager with Elizabeth Fairey. She brings a buyer's eye and a real feel for how customers like to be treated. She has an Art History degree from UNC and loves the art of decorating. As a former bartender, she is also a real problem-solver.
"People would tell me all their problems. I loved to listen and give advice. Working at Bloom, it's the same thing only the customers need help with a gift idea or a decorating dilemma."
Kim lives in Chapel Hill with her husband, son and two dogs. |
